Historical Museum Elspeet
Museum Elspeet is a beautiful museum with many beautiful wall photos, paintings and some regional costumes, elaborated into themes. The audience can click on a number of historical videos on a touchscreen. And as usual, at the end it leads to the shop with the tourist information center. Various aspects of Elspeet's cultural life over the years will be shown through a small permanent exhibition, but also through annually changing thematic exhibitions. It is also the intention that a documentation center will be established in the museum.
The themes highlighted in the museum are: Archaeology, Sheep Breeding, Church History, Artists, Traditional Costume and Intensive Livestock Farming. For the housing of the new museum, the board has chosen the fire station, also known as the "old school", because the primary school was located in the building from 1876 to 1954. Because the fire brigade moved to a new building in July 2014. new building has been moved, this building became available and was purchased from the Municipality of Nunspeet in 2015. The building will not only house a Museum, but space will be given to Youth Work and to “Uit de kunst” (Stichting Nunspeet Kunstenaarsdorp), the foundation that provides the Tourist Information Points (VVV) in the municipality of Nunspeet and of which the Historical Foundation Museum is acting as host for Elspeet.
