The Hidden Village
The hiding camp 'Pas-Opkamp', also known as the Hidden or Secret Village, was founded during the war years. The camp consisted of 9 huts, which were located in a very dense forest of young pine trees and were thus hidden from view. In the period February 1943 to October 1944, about 80 to 100 people found a safe shelter here.
The former hiding camp with reconstructed huts and memorial stone can be found on the Pas-Opweg, which is a dead end for cars. The location is indicated by signs from Vierhouten. From Vierhouten you enter the Tongerenseweg. Along the way you pass the monument that marks the area where 8 Jews from the hiding camp were shot. Turn right before the forester's house 'Pas-Op'. You will then automatically reach the huts. There is also parking here. So don't follow the navigation because there is a chance that you will be sent along a road closed to cars!
